I discovered this old army fort in Gulf Shores and decided to do a tour. I was surprised to learn how much history the fort has been involved in. From the War of 1812, Civil War, WW1 and WW2. Was captured by the confederates and then abandon later. The site is maintained and operated by the State of Alabama. The State of Alabama could do a better job of making the tour more informative. This is probably at the bottom of my list of US military sites that I have toured.
