Virginia City MT

Virginia City MT

Well this will be my last post until I get to Glacier NP. I am hanging out Helena MT over the 4th to avoid driving and dealing with crowds also have scheduled service on my van. Virginia City is still an actual town unlike Nevada City which the entire town is a museum. Virginia City and most of the buildings on main street are historical landmarks. Many are open for you to view. The sidewalks are wood to add to your experience walking around the town. They also have a cemetery called Boothill, but there are many cemeteries by this name in the US. There are 5 murders and robbers that were hanged buried there and their graves freshly marked.

Of course I had to do some touristy stuff. I took a stagecoach ride, pretty cool, went out of town to where the original gold strike was and talked about the history of the gold strike. I then attended a Vaudeville show of various comedic skits with singing, actually very entertaining. They requested that no pictures or video during the show so no pics, I didn’t want to be ‘that guy’. One of the buildings had old fashion arcade machines from the early 1900’s. They had these video boxes of the time, which were just sequential pictures to simulate movement. A couple had labels on them ‘Adult Content 1905’, I had to view. Basically women dancing around in their underwear of the time, which I believe were called bloomers, pretty funny. Well that’s it for now, I should arrive at Glacier NP on the 9th.
