Collier Logging Museum

Collier Logging Museum

Well I figured if I am in the northwest, I should check out a logging museum. After Crater Lake, I stayed south in Chiloquin OR. Collier Memorial State Park has the logging museum. In 2020 the museum was involve in the 2 4 2 fire, some parts were lost. Overall a nice display, but they could have had better signage on the different pieces of equipment.

The logging industry started in the 1860’s in Oregon. The museum shows the evolution of the equipment used to cut, move and mill the logs. Basically in the beginning they would mill the wood on site of the logging. As technology evolved, they could move the trees to the mill using steam with tractors and trains. The cabins they have on-site are from the area dating back to the 1880’s through 1920. They even kept the outhouses!
