Crater Lake National Park

Crater Lake National Park

It has been raining/storms the last 3 days off and on, suppose to clear om Sunday, but I will be on the road by then. I have been hiding out in the national forest close to Crater Lake for the past 3 days, finally a day looked promising and off I go. I have to say the mountain valleys in Oregon are really beautiful. Day started out as sunshine, suppose to have more storms later this afternoon, but I should have time. It’s kinda funny I thought the lake was created by a meteor because of it’s name. Oh well, it is a collapsed volcano, still an interesting story. The deepest and clearest lake in the US.

Snow above 7000 feet has been my dilemma for the past few weeks and really effected my visit. I knew there were closures in the park again because of snow. Just didn’t expect 3/4 of the roads closed. Just could get to Rim village which is the south part of the lake, but that was all. They still had allot of snow, wish I could have seen more of the park. When I got there is was sun shining but started to cloud up. Think I was there maybe 2 hours and it started to storm. Well I think I was doomed from the beginning.
