Onward to Idaho and Mammoth Cave

Leaving Oregon and going to Idaho. Had a lovely trip traveling east in Oregon, all secondary roads. I went through what they called the High Desert, it kinda look like the desert but it was 5000 feet. A Really nice drive and no traffic, think I saw maybe 12 cars the entire way until the interstate about 60 miles from Boise. I was so ecstatic entering Idaho, gas was just under $4/gal, California killed me at $5 and Oregon wasn’t much better. I sorta had a plan, but I didn’t even know where I would be staying that night, just had an area SE of Boise to focus on. Well the place I had in mind didn’t work out, so I turned to my gps looking for a place. Found one, 5 miles in the middle of open range land. It got a little questionable when it turned into a narrow road going over a mountain, but it worked out to a really nice spot, see my first 2 pics, a beautiful night.

The next day I came across a couple of cave tours in the area, one got some positive reviews, so it was on my way, why not stop. He had a museum and a cave, his father was a avid hunter traveling around the world and tons of stuffed animals. I guess when you have allot of stuff that would be interesting, why not start a museum. It was a small cave, about 1/4 mile, but what was interesting, you get a flashlight and are sent on your way. Wasn’t to bad, but compared to the other 2 caves, not to impressive. But the one thing the cave was 38 degrees when it was mid 70’s outside. Allot colder than the other caves. Can’t complain, have to try these types of places, they might surprise you.
