I stopped in Reno for a little break from the road and check out the National Automobile Museum. I used to travel to Reno over 20 years ago for my job, was interesting to return. I think in general the excitement or the lure of casino’s has diminished greatly over the years. Anyway enjoyed a motel room for a couple of days, nice to have a large bed and daily showers 🙂 I stayed downtown so I didn’t have to drive, always challenging to park. The Auto Museum is ‘Supposedly’ a top 10 museum. Not sure of that but with over 200 cars, it just might be. I figured I could do the river walk to the museum, but again I am not really thinking. I camped next to the Truckee river up in Truckee, the river runs through Reno, well the river walk was flooded with all the water coming down the mountain. Still was a nice day for a walk.
The museum was pretty awesome, some cars I never heard of before and some that I sort of read about. An Electric car from 1914, even a RV, a ‘Kampkar’ from 1921. The Thomas Flyer was out on loan, it was the car to win the the New York to Paris automobile race in 1908. They had a Telsa prototype from 2017 of an electric truck. Plus the toy cars for kids back in the day. On my way back I came across a ‘Bowling Stadium’ not an alley. Was a huge building and there was/is some type of championship being played, guess Reno is a destination for Bowlers. The building also had the International Bowling Museum, I would have thought a bowling museum belonged in Milwaukee WI. Well time to hit the road, did enjoy my break but it is time to go.
