National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum

National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is in Oklahoma City and I will say WOW, the most impressive museum that I have toured overall. They have something like 12 galleries covering everything related to the Cowboy and the west, with names like American Cowboy, American Rodeo, Frontier West, Firearms, Native American, etc… The museum is something like 200,000 sqft, took me around 4 hours and I walked almost 2 miles. They have a model of a western town along with examples of different Indian tribes living houses.

Just the gallery on games and toys related to westerns, I couldn’t believe the size, I think they managed to find every toy gun or game ever made related to the west. The art galleries. which I am not a big art lover, but I do like western art, maybe because of my grandfather, were great. The artifacts they have acquired must be the most complete collections related to Cowboys and the west. They have this model of the pueblo Indians, plus other examples of Indian life. This is a MUST see if you are even close by Oklahoma City.
