Luckenbach was a town founded in 1849 about 13 miles south of Fredericksburg. Luckenbach had a post office and a zipcode until 1971. Today it is basically 3 buildings and has become popular for country music concerts. I knew they had concerts on the weekends, but wasn’t sure what I find mid-afternoon on a Tuesday. To my surprise there was live music. It was basically a tourist stop, I think all the people there were like me, just curious.
Luckenbach was popularized in regional culture as the place where “Everybody is Somebody,” and achieved legendary proportions in 1977, when the Waylon Jennings hit song “Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)” became a national favorite. Also Willy Nelson has made various guest appearances. The outlaws of country music.
