Iowa / John Wayne Museum

Iowa / John Wayne Museum

Well my last state until my drive back to Tennessee, but Iowa has not been good for me so far. My first planned stop was a little out of the way, but thought it might be good, The Hobo Museum, I checked hours and they were only open certain days. Well I got there and they closed early, maybe was a sign. Well decided to check out the Louis and Clark Interpretive Center in Sioux City. The center is located around the river front in the downtown area. Well unknown to me, last weekend was this annual bike ride across Iowa that ended in the river front area of Sioux City, so the whole area was closed to vehicle traffic and it was very busy. Now Strike 2. Uhh.

John Wayne was born in Iowa and they have a museum and the home he was born in. Thought it might be interesting. Well it was nice, had memorabilia from his films and his last car he owned that was not what you would thought he would drive. Personal items like his commemorative guns he received from various movies. The house he was born in his parents rented and they left when he was 2 years old, so he never really knew about Winterset Iowa until many years later in life if at all. I have been busy doing some work to pass the time, hopefully tomorrow will bring me better luck.
