Fort Bridger, WY

Fort Bridger, WY

Like many forts in the west, they start out as a trading post. Jim Bridger established the trading post in 1847. The main Oregon-California Trail turned north toward Fort Hall, and the Mormon Trail Cutoff continued west to Salt Lake. It was an actual army post from 1857 to 1890. In the 1930’s there was rental cabins by the fort, along what was called the Lincoln Highway. Very interesting.
