Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park

This post is not just about Yellowstone, but the surrounding area. One of the things about traveling like I am doing is you can change plans daily, but there is always the challenge of where you will be staying any given night. I wanted to stay in this campground on the Snake river just west of Jackson WY, lovely campground but you are disconnected no cell, power or internet. Then travel to the Tetons and stay in the national forest, well didn’t work out as planned. I did stay at that campground west of Jackson, it rained but still was relaxing. The National Forest roads were muddy from all the rain, I had to scramble, headed to Yellowstone, Grant Campground had signs that said full, but sometimes you just have to ask. I stayed here last September, not a bad campground and showers are included, so that’s a bonus. When I was here last year, I didn’t have time to see everything, so decided to check out the west side of the park.

The first few pictures are the campground in the Tetons National Forest on the Snake River. So beautiful there and peaceful. There is an eagles nest across river and they had a young one. The first night I caught the eagle on the ground eating a tasty ground squirrel. Whats Yellowstone without geysers, think you can get geyser’d out. The west thumb geysers is next to Yellowstone lake which was closed last year because they found somebodies foot. Gibbons Falls is a smaller waterfall on the west side of the park, considered the Madison valley area. The last few pics are of Yellowstone lake. I was camping at 7700 feet, Tuesday morning, June 29th, 36 degrees and snow flurries. Now to go check out Montana.
