The Alien capitol is really a fun city, if you like everything alien themed. I actually had a great time, did some of the touristy stuff, just got too. The UFO Museum is the must see, they pretty much show all the evidence of aliens visiting earth. Of course most centers on the ‘the spaceship crash’ in 1947, we have seen the movies. The basic theory goes when we tested the first atomic bomb in 1945 it brought visitors from a far. Still a fun town to walk around. When I stopped by the visitor center the list they gave me of attractions included the a ‘McDonald’s’, yes.
Roswell happened to be first stop on my trip, the previous nights were rest stops as I traveled from Nashville. This was the first time I decided to try BLM (federal open land, and free to use) land, what my van is built for. Up in the hills outside of Roswell has such a place, it was great. There are no facilities, you bring out what you brought in, ‘Leave No Trace’ is the rule. The dry heat has been wonderful.
