Route 66 – Part 2

Route 66 – Part 2

Well I am back on the road heading out west. While heading to New Mexico, I looked up Route 66 sites west of Oklahoma City to New Mexico, going through Texas. I already did Oklahoma City to Tulsa in part 1. Going west from Oklahoma city, allot of the original route 66 was replaced by interstate 40, so I could not just travel route 66 like in part one. Basically pulling off 40 to travel through a town then back on the interstate. The Route 66 Museum had all the history, so that was great.

I used an internet site that gives details on the original sites, what I have encountered are additional things having the route 66 logo, but was not part of the original highway. For example the ‘National’ Route 66 museum, was not mentioned on the website but saw it as I passed by so I stopped. Anyway, I am done with Route 66, because my travels really do not go by other attractions. The last 2 pictures are what it left of Glenrio TX, on the border of Texas and New Mexico once interstate 40 was built.
