I arrived in Galveston on Saturday to camp on the beach, more on that later. I had some time so I checked out some of the attractions. First up was the railroad museum, this was great, the first museum I have been to that you actually toured the whole train. You were able to climb into the locomotives and the rest of the cars, even the caboose. The setup of one of the pullman sleeper cars reminded me of business class on an airplane. Really enjoyed it.
Next stop was the Ocean Star Off Shore Drilling Rig. Now this was different. In a way it was information overload on how they drill for oil from these platforms and all the technology involved. As for the old historic district, it was not full of tourist crap, so that was nice. Galveston is a nice city.
