With my change in plans, I only had a day or afternoon to see New Orleans. I found a parking lot right next to the French Qtr that I could park overnight, exactly what my van was built for. I have heard about the city being dangerous, but still decided to take a chance, I could always just leave.
I arrived around 11 in the morning, so had the afternoon to do some sight seeing. One of the places I wanted to see was the WWII museum, but will have to do this another time. I got there around 2pm and it is 3 buildings, huge, so decided to see other things instead and make a return trip just for the museum. But allot of the other sites, some quirky were closed on Monday, didn’t plan good. Anyway had a nice day walking around and had no issues, but I was back relaxing at my van by 8pm.
Of course can’t visit New Orleans without taking a grave yard tour. Was real interesting how the tombs hold entire generations of family by recycling. The Catholic church gave permission for the film Easy Rider to use the cemetery, but never read the script, so after the film came out, they decided that no other film could use any of the Catholic cemeteries.
