The lighthouse is located in Daytona Beach on what is now the Ponce de Leon Inlet, the previous name was Mosquito Inlet. The first lighthouse was erected in 1835, but was destroyed in the Seminole war. The current lighthouse was completed in 1887. This lighthouse had 203 steps. Before these lighthouses were converted to electric, the lighthouse keepers had to carry oil up the stairs which weighed 40 pounds multiple times a day.
Today it is still a functioning lighthouse and museum. The pictures from the top look out towards Daytona beach.
